Benefits of Diode Laser

One of the main draws for using a dental laser is that it replaces the need for the somewhat scary parts of conventional surgery like scalpels and sutures. Instead, treatments can be performed in minimally invasive procedures, which many patients find more comfortable. Laser dentistry has also been shown to result in less discomfort during recovery and reduce the amount of healing time after a procedure so patients can get back to their normal routine faster than ever.

Dental Laser Treatments

We use our Diode dental laser for a variety of soft tissue treatments. Here are some of the ways laser dentistry can help you:

  • Gum Disease Therapy
  • One of the most common reasons we use our dental laser is for gum disease therapy. The laser precisely targets and removes any inflamed or infected gum tissue. This is a much less invasive procedure compared to traditional gum disease surgery. Patients who go with periodontal laser therapy often experience faster recovery, too.
  • Gum Recontouring
  • Laser dentistry isn’t just useful in restorative cases — it can help with cosmetic concerns as well! If you have a gummy smile, gum recession, or an uneven gum line, we can use the dental laser to reshape your gums and improve your smile’s appearance.
  • Frenectomies
  • A frenectomy is a procedure to correct either a lip tie or a tongue tie. These are conditions where the frenulum, a small piece of tissue that connects the tongue to the bottom of the mouth or the lips to the gums, causes dental or speech issues. After a frenectomy, the patient will have more mouth control and mobility. Using a dental laser rather than other alternatives shortens both the procedure and healing time, and the treatment is gentler on the patient.
  • Cold Sore Treatment
  • Did you know that you can get your cold sore treated at our dental office? Instead of waiting for it to heal on its own or using drugstore ointments, you can come to us and we’ll use our dental laser to help it heal faster and alleviate your discomfort.
